Vembu Storegrid 4.4 Linux upgrade not starting

We recently upgraded our copy of our Storegrid Server and clients to 4.4. After the upgrade a couple of our customers 64 bit Linux servers (All Centos) Storegrid failed to start.

Attempting to start and then show the status of Storegrid returned:

[root@fs1 StoreGrid]# /etc/init.d/storegrid start
Starting StoreGrid!
[root@fs1 StoreGrid]# /etc/init.d/storegrid status
StoreGrid is not running

The storegrid process definitely wasn’t running however a few related process were:

[root@fs1 StoreGrid]# ps aux | grep storegrid
root     26083  0.0  0.0 103232   848 pts/1    S+   18:57   0:00 grep storegrid
[root@fs1 StoreGrid]# ps aux | grep sg
root     17450  0.0  0.0 106084  1272 pts/1    S    18:35   0:00 sh sgUpdaterStarter.sh start
root     25901  0.0  0.0 106080  1224 pts/1    S    18:56   0:00 sh sgmonitor.sh
root     26163  0.0  0.0 103232   848 pts/1    S+   18:57   0:00 grep sg

Attempting to run the process manually results in the following error

[root@fs1 StoreGrid]# ./bin/StoreGrid
./bin/StoreGrid: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The problem is that storegrid is a 32 bit process and it needs the 32 bit version of libstdc++.so.6. This can be fixed by running

[root@fs1 StoreGrid]# yum install libstdc++.i686

Storegrid should then start and run as usual
