Disable Requiring Device Password on Mobile Devices in Exchange 2010

By default Exchange 2010 has a policy requiring mobile devices (iPhones/iPads and Android Devices) to have a pin code before the account can be setup. The following steps outline removing this policy:

  1. Launch the Exchange Management Console
  2. Expand Microsoft Exchange On-Premises
  3. Expand Organization Configuration
  4. Select Client Access
  5. Change to the Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policies Tab
  6. Right click the policy named Default and select Policies
  7. Select the Password Tab
  8. Uncheck the require password checkbox
  9. Click Ok to Save. Now when you setup a device you won’t be prompted to create a pin code
